Celia Eva Levine passed away peacefully on July 7, 2020. She was surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.
Celia was born in New York City and lived in Liverpool NY for 35 years. She and Bob moved to Delray Beach in 2005.
Celia always displayed strength and grace despite a long history of illnesses. She will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family as well as her dedication to fundraising for Jewish causes, especially ORT and then Hadassah where she was the VP of Fundraising. Celia was a teaching assistant at Liverpool Central Schools in NY for over 20 years and touched the lives of so many teachers and students. She was a lead contract negotiator for the teachers union and NYSUT. Celia had a love of the arts and was instrumental in the formation of Adventure In The Arts in Liverpool. As a fundraiser extraordinaire she was co-creator of Senior DaZe and the Senior Ball alternative after party to keep kids safe.
Celia had a green thumb and loved spending time in her garden. She worked with the state of NY to make sure plots of land were designated as Forever Wild. If you stopped by to visit her, she always had a plant or tree clippings to give you and enjoyed sharing her vegetables from the garden.
Celia was a terrific Maj Jong player, playing for over 50 years, enjoying the competition as well as teaching newbies and coaching novices alike.
Her passion for politics led her to campaigning for many of her favorite candidates as well as working the elections year after year.
