Ascension "Olga" Perez passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, the day after Christmas.

Born in Albacete, Spain, Ascension was predeceased by her parents, Francisco LaOrden and Isabel Melero, and by her sisters, Isabel and Paquita, and her brother, Juan. She was deeply connected to her family and heritage, and to relatives in Spain she was lovingly known as Tía Chon.

Ascension earned the nickname "Olga" when her sisters remarked that she resembled a character from the film Doctor Zhivago—a name that stayed with her throughout her life and became cherished by family and friends alike.

She met John, her devoted husband of 45 years, through John's parents. The two were married on May 7, 1981, in Darien, Connecticut. On September 20, 1985, Ascension proudly became an American citizen.

Throughout their life together, Ascension and John made their homes in Darien, Connecticut; Rye, New York; and Goshen, New York, before settling in Boca Raton, Florida, in 2004.

An avid and accomplished golfer, Ascension found great joy on the course and won numerous trophies and championships in both New York and Florida. Her competitive spirit was matched by her warmth, grace, and love of community.

Ascension is survived by her loving husband, John; her nieces Estella and Pastora and nephew Juan in Spain; and her nieces Lynn and Jennifer and nephew Vincent in the United States. She will be remembered for her strength, elegance, devotion to family, and the many lives she touched across two countries.

Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449.
