Arvel N. Hayes, Sr. (Gabby), born December 20, 1946, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2021. Gabby was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Arvel D. and Helen Hayes. Gabby was the fourth of six children.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era (1966- 1969). Gabby met the love of his life, Connie, and wed on November 7, 1970. They had two children, Arvel Neil Hayes, Jr. (Joe) and Amy Renee Hayes.
Gabby moved his wife and son to Boynton Beach, Florida on March 20, 1974. After he settled in South Florida they welcomed their second child, Amy.
He worked at Hardrives of Delray Beach, where he was employed for 36 years.
Gabby loved being with family and friends, camping, fishing, and loved hunting with his son, Joe. He always looked forward to his trips to Canada with "his" boys.
Gabby enjoyed just having the love and laughter around him. He loved telling stories and drinking his Pabst Blue Ribbon. You would never see Gabby without his CAT hat or too far from his wife.
Gabby was met at the gates of Heaven by his father, mother, two sisters, brother, and father & mother-in-law.
Gabby leaves behind his devoted wife, Connie, of over 50 years; two children: Joe (Lisa) and Amy (Roger) Stanton; 5 grandchildren: Jacklyn, Roger, Jr., Brandon, Joshua Neil, and Michelle; 4 great-grandchildren; his loving sisters: Helen and Carol; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
