Arthur A. D’Amato

March 5, 1938 - July 30, 2026

A native of New Britain, Connecticut, Art lived a life full of music, art, creativity, world travel and strong connections to family and his Sicilian heritage.

He began playing the trumpet at age 10 which led him to lifelong friends early on, appreciation for classic and experimental jazz and all things avant-garde, and to the Army. Selected to play with a small group formed to better European relations with the USA, Art travelled all over Europe with his Army band. This was Art’s most talked about and best of life experiences.

After many European adventures (and mis-adventures) and learning to drive a tank, Art left the Army and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music at the Julius Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut.

After enjoying playing music for some time, Art realized he needed to make money and joined the insurance business. He earned a degree in insurance and began a long career with MetLife. Art started as a salesman and continued his career with MetLife when he moved to Florida, advancing to Vice President.

After retiring from MetLife, Art continued with music as President of the South Florida Composer’s Alliance for a time, continuing involvement as a board member.

In his retirement years, Art enjoyed living life to its fullest with his loving wife of 27 years, Ofelia. Making their home within the Tivoli Lakes community in Boynton Beach, they were very active in the community and have been graced with many friends.

Arthur is survived by his wife Ofelia, daughter Deborah, son Marc (Dina), and grandchildren Garrett (Lauren and baby) and Lydia. He was unconditionally supportive of his family and encouraged all to “Follow Your Bliss.”
