Arnold E. Thompson, a longtime resident of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away on August 10, 2021. Arnold was born in West Carthage, New York, to Clarence and Hazel (Hayes) Thompson on August 5, 1941. Arnold was raised on the family dairy farm on the East Road in Lowville, New York. After graduating from Lowville Academy and Central School (NY) in 1958, Arnold enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after four years. Thereafter, he moved to Lake Worth, Florida, where he worked for Western Union for the next several years. In 1968 he met Nina Lee Dazey and they married on December 28, that same year in Delray Beach, Florida. Arnold went to electrical apprenticeship school becoming a Journeyman Electrician upon graduation. In 1983, Arnold realized his dream of becoming an electrical contractor by establishing Arnold E. Thompson Electric, Inc., which he successfully owned and operated for 30 years. Upon his retirement in 2013, he closed the business down. Arnold has been involved in the community for many years. Arnold served on the city of Boynton Beach Planning and Zoning Board in the early 80's. Arnold began his involvement in youth soccer with the then Delray Beach Soccer League (Delray Rush) serving as a coach, certified referee and volunteer. He served as president of the organization from 1985 to 1989. Arnold then, with others, founded the Palm Beach Soccer League serving as its treasurer until his passing. In addition to his wife, Nina Lee Thompson, Arnold is survived by his sons, Brian E. Thompson and Jeffrey A. Thompson. Arnold is also survived by his sisters, June (John) Waite and Susan (John) Howard and brothers, Paul (Sandy) Thompson and Steven Thompson. Arnold is also survived by sisters-in-law, Pauline, Irene and Dava, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers William, Robert, Neil, John, and James and his sisters, Arlene (his twin sister), Patricia and Christine. Arnold packed a lot of living into his 80 years. He loved his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
