IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antoinette
Guerra
October 13, 1936 – January 5, 2023
On January 5, 2023, Antoinette J. Guerra, also known as Nanette or Toni Guerra to many, fell into her eternal sleep. She is survived by her daughter, Corinne, grandson, Keith James and his wife Mary, and Evelina, her adorable great-grand-daughter. Antoinette is also survived by her younger brothers, Louis and John, her youngest sister, Marie, her Uncle Richie and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins- as well as a community of others who grieve the loss of this vivacious, talented, beautiful, nurturing, strong and unapologetic woman.
Antoinette was born the 13th of October 1936, to John and Rose Guerra in Harlem, New York. She grew up in the Bronx, New York where she graduated from James Monroe High School. She married Vincent DeLuca, and they celebrated the birth of their daughter in 1959.
Antoinette spent her early career in New York City working in the medical field before settling in south Florida where she began a successful catering company, which still thrives to date. Perhaps, however, her greatest professional success was her time spent nurturing, teaching and guiding special needs' students at Boca Raton Community High School. Her unwavering support, unmatched work-ethic and propensity to ensure everyone – from students and teachers to staff and families – was nourished not only with love but of course, with her homemade food. When Toni Guerra arrived, bellies were full and hearts were delighted.
Nanette impacted too many lives to list. She was a powerhouse of energy – a warrior of spirit. She did not mince words; in fact, Toni was the one person anyone could count on to 'tell it like it is' – no fluff. But more than anything else, Nanette was a person of action, and her actions were always driven from a place of love. Toni Guerra would yell at you about all the things you were doing wrong as she filled your refrigerator with food, clothed and sheltered you, and most of all, made sure you knew that you were never alone…Her loss is devastating to all those who knew her because to know her was to love her. Thank you for the time you have graced us with your spirit.
And now, with the saddest of hearts we cry, "Say hello to Heaven, Toni… I guess they needed you up there."
