IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony
Tammaro
February 14, 1931 – August 6, 2023
Anthony C. Tammaro of Wellington, Florida passed away on August 6, 2023. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey on February 14, 1931.
Anthony attended Eastside High School and later at the age of 21 entered into the US Army in January of 1951. He was stationed overseas in Germany during the Korean War where he was a dedicated gunner in Battery A of the division 899th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion and honorably discharged after serving his time.
Anthony, who like to be called Tony, met the love of his life, Joan LaRusso, on the 4th of July weekend on the beach in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was love at first sight. Tony and Joan married on February 16, 1957 and spent 66 blissful years together. They raised their three children in Totowa Borough as a happy family of 5 for 47 years. Tony was also a faithful parishioner of Totowa's local St. James Roman Catholic Church.
Tony was a talented craftsman who had a natural gift for carpentry and a knack for handy-work. He enjoyed traveling with his wife on many adventures to exotic locations like Hawaii, Rio de Janeiro, and Europe. One of Tony's many hobbies included golf, where he had an aptitude for reading the greens and a swing to be envied.
Tony was a fantastic dancer, an avid story teller, and was loved by all for his kind heart and generosity.
He retired from Western Electric/Lucent Technologies as an Electrical Tester after 30 years. Tony and his wife then moved to Wellington, Florida where he lived a leisurely life enjoying his decaf Dunkin Donuts and quality time with friends. He was also a parishioner of Wellington's Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joan LaRusso Tammaro, loving father of Anthony J. Tammaro and his companion Lauren Manenti, Irene Tammaro-Tallia, Robin Tammaro-Lupo and her husband Richard A. Lupo. Devoted grandfather of Nicole Lupo, Danielle Lupo, and Raquel Lupo.
