IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ana Maria
Salvador
March 25, 1950 – May 11, 2020
Ana Maria was born in Havana, Cuba to Jose Andraca and Esther La Madriz and lived there with her
family until 1961. At that time she immigrated to the United States, accompanied by her cousins via
Operation Pedro Pan and the Catholic Church. She was placed under the care of Roy and Rosemary
Evans in Albuquerque, New Mexico for one year (near her cousins). She then joined her cousins and
her aunt and uncle for the next year in Philadelphia, PA. The following year, she moved again with
her uncle, aunt and cousins to Puerto Rico until her parents were able to immigrate to the United
States a few years later. Ana Maria joined her parents and finished high school in Coral Gables,
Florida in 1968. After graduating high school she worked full time and studied part time to help the
family. In 1970 she met Alberto F. Salvador who was recovering from wounds received in Vietnam
and fell in love. They were married November 26, 1971 in Miami, Florida. They lived in Miami,
Florida until 1977 when they moved to West Palm Beach. Their first daughter was born in 1978; Ana
Maria continued to work and be a housewife throughout this time. She became a mother to her
second and third daughters in 1981 and 1982. She continued to work in Human Resources, banking,
and retail throughout the years. After her daughters completed their schooling, Ana Maria changed
careers and started working for the Palm Beach County School District as a Language Facilitator.
During this time she continued furthering her education and completed her Associate in Arts degree
at Palm Beach State College. She continued to work for the school district until her retirement. After
her retirement, Alberto and Ana Maria focused on family and travel. In 2019 Alberto and Ana Maria
traveled to Puerto Rico where she contracted a bacterial infection which severely altered her health
and she eventually succumbed to the multiple illnesses that came from the initial infection.
Ana Maria is survived by her husband Alberto F. Salvador, her daughters: Ana Cristina (Joseph)
Mendiguren and their three children Bianca Rose, Maximo Ray, and Isla Grace; Patricia Ann (Jason)
Herrle, and Ileana Maria (Larry) Williams and Landon Reef. She is also survived by her sister Esther
Santana and brother Jorge Andraca; an uncle and wife, multiple cousins, nieces and nephews and
extended family.
