Obituary

Alan Taylor passed away peacefully on February 20 in Boca Raton, Florida, a place he truly adored. He was 89 years young.

Born in Manhattan and raised in Miami, Alan carried his warmth, wit, and unmistakable New York spirit with him throughout his life. After earning his degree from the University of Miami, he began his career writing sports columns for newspapers in Florida and Los Angeles. While journalism was his starting point, sports public relations soon revealed itself as his true calling.

Alan went on to become a respected and influential figure in the sports PR industry, a giant whose impact shaped the lives and careers of thousands. He was known not only for his professional accomplishments but for his generosity with his time, wisdom, and mentorship. Alan took great pride in guiding others, offering encouragement, insight, and belief in those fortunate enough to learn from him.

Beyond his remarkable career, Alan embraced life's simple joys. He loved golf, bridge, the gym, lunching with his friends and fine dining, preferably served quickly, otherwise a Yelp review would be posted.  His humor, charm, and distinctive personality left lasting impressions wherever he went.

Above all else, Alan's greatest joy was his beloved wife of 64 years, Claire Taylor. Their enduring partnership was the center of his world.

Alan is lovingly survived by Claire; his children, Stephen and Ginger; his adoring son-in-law, Norman and his four treasured grandchildren his "obsessions"  Jaret, Arianna, Aidan, and Zoey.

A celebration of Alan's life will be held on Wednesday, February 25, at 3:00 PM at The Gardens of Boca Raton.

Alan Taylor will be deeply missed by so many, but his legacy — of mentorship, kindness, laughter, and love — will live on in all who were privileged to know him.
